Hands-on by design
Nine people, one instructor.
Nine participants per instructor is the hard cap. That is what makes it possible for the instructor to watch each person compress, correct the depth, and evaluate them one at a time.
- Practice with CPR training equipment
- Individual skills evaluation for every participant
- Ask questions in a focused group
- Build confidence through repetition and feedback

Common questions from BLS students
Who is this class for?
Anyone whose job requires BLS certification. Nurses, nursing students, STNAs, CNAs, EMTs, paramedics, medical assistants, dental professionals, respiratory therapists, and healthcare students all take this course. If you are looking for CPR for personal or family reasons rather than for work, ask GAP about community CPR instead.
Do I have to register ahead of time?
Yes. One instructor can take nine people, and seats go in the order they are claimed. Email CPR@gapfam-outreach.org or call (330) 249-1277 to hold one. There is no online checkout yet, so you will hear back from GAP directly.
What does it cost?
$75 per person for the September 26, 2026 class.
What actually happens in the three hours?
You practice compressions, ventilation, AED use, and choking relief on training equipment, work through team scenarios, and then complete an individual skills evaluation. The class is small enough that the instructor watches each person do it rather than checking a box.
What do I walk out with?
Upon successful completion, you receive an American Heart Association BLS Provider eCard.
Where is it, and when should I get there?
GAP's training room at 643 Schiller Avenue, Akron, OH 44310. The building is open for scheduled programming rather than walk-ins, so come for the class time listed rather than earlier in the day.
Can you come to my workplace or church instead?
GAP can bring training to an employer, church, or organization. Group size and cost depend on what you need, so GAP quotes each request rather than publishing a standing rate. Call or email with the number of people and the dates that work.
Can I sign up for the CNA, Home Health Aide, or Medication Aide programs?
Not yet. Those programs are still being built, and enrollment will begin soon. GAP will not take a registration before a program is approved to run, so ask to be notified and you will hear as soon as one opens.
Only confirmed dates appear on this page. For a Heartsaver course, a rate for your group, or a class after September 26, contact GAP and you will get the current status rather than an estimated date.
